We are fortunate, here at the shop, to feature the work of talented local artists. Currently, we are exhibiting the vivid work of Darklens Photography.
A local photographer and Denver native, KayJ was raised just a few blocks from Coffee at The Point and has lived in Colorado most of her life. She is a self-taught photographer who finds photography to be a creative outlet. "It’s how I destress and re-center," she says, "I find it calming."
When asked what her work means to her, she explains, "It’s an opportunity for creative expression.” She then goes on to provide her mission statement for the collection saying:
“An artist does not fake reality -- he stylizes it.” -- Ayn Rand
My fine art photography is a journey of self-discovery and self-expression. I am fascinated by the subjective nature of life and how two people can have exactly the same encounter and have completely different interpretations of it.
My art is intended to be a connection. A lot of fine art photographers use symbolism in their images to tell a story. I don’t want you to guess or interpret my work. I want it to immediately capture you. Instantly. I want to draw an emotion out of you that you did not expect. HUES: The Black Collection is a portrait series showcasing the beauty and power of the color Black. I chose this color as the introduction because of the intense emotion it brings. It can be vulnerable and powerful at the same. The Black Collection is the first in a 7 part series.
Stop into Coffee at The Point today where her work is on display and available for purchase until January 30th.
