Hi, my name is Martez Mckinzy. I am a professional dancer that lives in Colorado. The reason I moved to Colorado 4 years ago was because I joined a professional dance company by the name of Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble. Dance is such a meaningful passion of mine. It all started when I was 17 and I auditioned for a Performing Arts high school in Kansas City, Missouri. After being accepted into the school, that’s when my life of dance started. Some of my main goals are to teach and dance all around the world and also to dance until I’m at least 80 years old. November of 2018 will make 7 years of being a cancer survivor. I was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma stage 2 when I was 18, a month and a half after I graduated high school. I went through about 7 months of treatment and a few surgeries within those months. But I can honestly say it was one of the best things to ever happen to me.
Lastly, I have upcoming shows in December. The production is called “Granny Dances to a Holiday Drum” it’s a phenomenal and energetic program. Opening night is Dec 1 and goes through Dec 16.
